Arguing with trolls means they win. Yes/No?

Any troll on an internet message board is "doing it for the the lulz" (look it up). They are wanting attention and want us to get angry. So doesn't arguing back at their bigotry mean they are getting what they want? Is the best solution to report and leave trolls alone so they go away out of their own eBoredom?
