Animals who sacrifice themselves in nature?

The one about birds is true of some species. They feign injury to lure the predator away from the nest, but once they get the predator far enough away, they just fly away, so it doesn't really seem like much of a sacrifice. How about animals who have sacrificed themselves to save their human owners?
